All Vide settings are in the Vide dialog. To open it, click the Vide card in your friend list.
Turn on finding friends through others
In the Vide dialog, turn on Find friends through others. This lets Vides and friends you both have tell your apps where the other one is. A friend who helps can see that you two know each other.
All other Vide settings need this switch on.
Use the public Vide
- Turn on Find friends through others.
- Turn on Use Gehlvora's public Vide.
Add your group's Vide
You need the group's Vide code from whoever runs the Vide. It looks like VIDE-…@address:port.
- Turn on Find friends through others.
- Under Your group's Vide, paste the Vide code into the field.
- Click Add.
To remove a Vide, click Remove next to it.
Check it worked
Each Vide shows a status:

| Standing by | Ready. Your app only contacts a Vide while a friend can't be reached. |
| Connecting… | A friend can't be reached, and your app is contacting the Vide. |
| Connected | Your app is talking to the Vide. |
| Switched off | Find friends through others is off. |
Error messages

| That isn't a Vide code. | Copy the whole code again, from VIDE- to the port number at the end. |
| This Vide is already in the list. | Nothing. The Vide is already added. |
| Damaged code (in the list) | Remove the entry and add the code again. |
