macOS firewall
The macOS firewall can stay on. On first start, macOS asks whether Tact-VC may accept incoming connections. Click Allow.
If you clicked Deny:
- Open System Settings → Network → Firewall → Options.
- Find Tact-VC and set it to Allow incoming connections.
Security programs
- Outgoing firewalls such as LuLu or Little Snitch block the app silently until you allow it. Watch for their prompt on first start.
- Antivirus and security suites with a network filter: allow Tact-VC in their settings.
Local Network permission
Without this permission, friends on the same network (at home, in the office) can't reach you, and Tact-VC can't talk to your router. Friends over the internet still can.
- Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network.
- Turn Tact-VC on.
- If it's already on but System permissions in Tact-VC still says Blocked, turn it off and on again, then restart Tact-VC. After an app update, macOS sometimes keeps a switch that no longer applies to the new version.
Check it worked
Settings → Help → System permissions shows Allowed everywhere, and Check my network passes Replies.
